Co-founder and Director of Incite, a leading South African-based consultancy, Jonathon has 30 years of advisory and advocacy experience in corporate sustainability strategy and disclosure in more than 30 countries, mainly in emerging markets. In addition to working with leading companies across a range of sectors, he has consulted with global organisations such as the CDP, GRI, IIRC, ISO, UNCTAD and UN Global Compact.
Jonathon has played an active role in driving corporate accountability in South Africa and globally: he was instrumental in bringing the CDP to South Africa; convened the three-year GRI/IIRC Corporate Leadership Group on integrated reporting; served on technical advisory groups to the IIRC; and was the ISO representative on the global Corporate Reporting Dialogue. From 2006-2010 Jonathon chaired the multi-stakeholder negotiations on the text of ISO 26000, securing consensus on the international standard on social responsibility. Recently, he led the consultant team developing the JSE’s Sustainability and Climate Disclosure Guidance, and he is currently advising the Botswana Stock Exchange. Jonathon is an Associate of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and a visiting lecturer on various MBA programmes, teaching on business and sustainable development issues since 2002.
