Sazini Mojapelo

Sazini Mojapelo is currently the Chairperson of the Board of the Southern Africa Trust and is on the board of Save the Children South Africa and the National Business Initiative as the Chairperson of the Finance and Risk committee. She has an extensive understanding and experience in the management of not-for-profit governance and organizational systems that drive sustainable growth.


She is an accomplished and highly qualified sustainability professional having worked in Barclays Africa Group and Absa Bank Group as the Managing Executive responsible for Corporate Citizenship, sustainability, and community Investments. In this role, she was also the CEO of the Absa Foundation Trust and Managing director of the ABSA Africa Foundation special purpose vehicles set up to drive investments and partnerships.  She successfully led the Bank’s social investment strategies for multiple countries on the continent, collaborating with the UK, Americas, and Asia Pacific, managing a budget of over R2.1 billion during her tenure.


Sazini holds substantial expertise in developing impact strategies linked to ESG, creating shared value, employee engagement programmes, social inclusion and justice, stakeholder engagement and management. Highly competent at interacting with internal and external stakeholders and an expert in maximizing stakeholder relations, which has resulted in an overall improvement in performance and productivity. In addition to the 18 year’s experience, Sazini is a Harvard business school alumni having obtained a business leadership qualification and has a master’s degree in development studies, an Honors degree in Social Transformations and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Industrial Psychology.
